“Seaglass” Establishes Last Planet's Alt-Rock/Neo-Soul Vibe
[June 2, 2023 – Oakland, CA] Last Planet drops their fourth 2023 single, “Little More Time”, which builds on the feeling of longing expressed in their last two releases, “Whiskey Breath" and “Seaglass”, and drives home their modern alt-rock vibe. “Little More Time” is about how hard it is to break cycles of destructive behaviors in a relationship. Rai sings vulnerably yet powerfully about the heartache of being left because of not being able to change fast enough. The big guitars express the climatic emotional upheaval before the catchy and relatable chorus brings solace.
After a year in the studio, Last Planet is currently touring northern California, playing well-known venues, county fairs, and beloved dive bars. They look forward to connecting with their fans and making new ones. More information at lastplanetband.com and @lastplanetband.
“Seaglass” Establishes Last Planet's Alt-Rock/Neo-Soul Vibe
[May 5, 2023 – Oakland, CA] Last Planet drops their third 2023 single. Ethereal, ambient “Seaglass” builds on the dark mood of Oakland-based Last Planet's last release, “Whiskey Breath," and establishes their trance-inducing modern alt-rock vibe. “Seaglass” is about longingly clinging to love or an emotional high when you feel it slipping away. The vocal melody flows through the atmospheric soundscape, like ocean waves over seaglass, seducing the listener and conveying the yearning for the fading emotional high to linger.
After a year in the studio, Last Planet will be hitting northern California stages playing well-known venues, county fairs, and beloved dive bars. They look forward to connecting with their fans and making new ones. More information at lastplanetband.com and @lastplanetband.
“Whiskey Breath” Ushers in Last Planet’s New Sound
[April 7, 2023 – Oakland, CA] Dark, modern alt-rock “Whiskey Breath,” the second in a series of 2023 singles from Oakland-based Last Planet, captures their signature soulful yet gritty sound, more than any song to date. The melodic, trance-inducing vocals seductively draw you into a dazed night out on the town. The pulsating wobble bass drives the groove, while the lead guitar and saxophone intensify the whiskey haze. The lyrics slyly hint at the sinister side of nightlife and the chaotic bridge portends the shame and self-contempt of the next day’s hangover.
“Whiskey Breath” foreshadows Last Planet’s forthcoming 2023 singles that will captivate listeners with soulful vocals and atmospheric sounds supported by intricate and edgier groove and melodic, relatable lyrics.
“Whiskey Breath” Ushers in Last Planet’s New Sound
[March 3, 2023 – Oakland, CA] Last Planet launches 2023 with “Picture of Us,” an energetic, defiant yet vulnerable, pop-punk tune with pulsating female and male vocals. Last Planet, a groovy, Oakland-born, alt rock band that goes beyond genres, says “This one’s in the vein of Paramore and No Doubt with a dash of Yellowcard.” “Picture of Us” is about the anxiety of feeling a love interest slipping away and flipping between obsessing over how to win their affection and building the strength to move on.
Last Planet has a tidal wave of new music coming out, ranging from introspective grunge music to dance-inspiring pop rock. Formed in 2018 by two songwriting musicians working at Guitar Center in San Francisco, Last Planet rapidly grew to a dynamic band of six that will release a long series of singles in 2023 and explode onto stages throughout the year.
